Symetra has several great opportunities to be part of our 2023 Finance & Accounting Internship Program!

About the Internship:
Symetra is offering 5 opportunities with our Finance - Accounting area. This is a full-time, paid internship taking place in spring/summer 2023. The internship is 100% remote. The duration of the internship is 3 to 6 months, during which you will have the opportunity to learn from experienced members of our finance team, while focusing on different areas in finance. You will get hands on experience and work ready skills through working with several finance software applications and contributing to diverse tasks and projects. Potential Responsibilities:
Intern Position #1 - Focus on Accounting and Reporting Cycle

• 
  
• Participate in month end close process with Enterprise Reporting Team, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and review of certain schedules.
  
• Preparation and tie-out of quarterly deliverables
  
• Rollforward and preparation of upcoming year-end 2023 deliverables
  
  
  Intern Position #2 & #3 - Focus on Tax related topics
  
  • 
    
  • Preparation of federal income tax returns
    
  • Assist with processing and summarizing Form K-1 partnership tax returns
    
  • Assist with investment accounting projects (tax, GAAP, and/or Statutory reporting bases)
    
  • Assist with quarterly tax provisions
    
    
    Intern Position #4 - Focus on Accounting and Reporting Cycle
    
    • 
      
    • Participate in month end close process with the Expense Operations and Division Accounting, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations and review of certain schedules.
      
    • Assist with preparation and tie-out of quarterly deliverables
      
    • Data Automation projects
      
      
      Intern Position #5 - Focus on Investments
      
      • 
        
      • Assist with investment accounting projects (GAAP, and/or Statutory reporting bases)
