This is a high-visibility, hands-on position where you would be part of a product development team focused on instrumentation that help scientists solve the toughest problems in life sciences. You would be involved through all phases of the product lifecycle:-- - through concept, design, production, and commercialization.-- - In a typical week, you would work as part of a cross-functional collection of engineers, scientists, and project managers to design and implement revolutionary features for new and existing products.Who You Are:-- --- -Minimum Qualifications:-- -Bachelor's degree in Mechanical,-- -Optical,-- -Biomedical, or Electrical Engineering, or other related Science/Engineering/Technology/Math (STEM) bachelor's degree2+ years of practical work experience in fieldPreferred Qualifications-- -Knowledge of optics component mounting, interfaces, filter coatings, and adhesive bondingExperience designing optical assembly devicesEngineering experience with free-space and/or fiber coupled laser technologyExperience with the use of autocollimators or other optical alignment toolingWorking knowledge of manufacturing techniques (machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality systemsExperience with partnering with critical suppliers and contract manufacturers a plusFamiliar with electronics and optical system testing, and associated data analysis and statisticsExperience with solid modeling software (preferred SOLIDWORKS)Experience with optical modeling software (preferred ZEMAX)Ability to develop and execute cohesive strategies to understand difficult problems, perform root cause analysis and develop mitigation strategiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to understand, prepare, and communicate scientific information to a wide range of audiencesDemonstrate technical proficiency, scientific creativity, and creative problem solvingProven ability to collaborate with fellow, highly motivated teammates (local, domestic, and international)What we offer: With us, there are always opportunities to break new ground.
