Solutions team as a Director of Engineering!About the roleAt

Emerging Solutions and Technology & Operations Solutions teams as a
Director of Engineering.The Director of Engineering leads an
engineering team that is responsible for the technology enabling a
customer, partner or employee product/experience or a company
capability. The Director of Engineering is responsible for setting
priorities, managing the engineering team, and ultimately shipping
the technology that creates value.
What you will do
- Create a highly technical, supportive, and inclusive team

- Collaborate with stakeholders to create a technical strategy
for the customer, partner or employee product/experience or company
capability you oversee.
- Support an engineering culture that emphasizes quality,
agility, experimentation, and continuous delivery. Foster a
Dev/Sec/Ops mindset for delivery teams that own their systems and
services end-to-end.
- Coach, mentor and develop a full-stack team of software
developers to help them reach their potential. Recruit, hire, grow,
and retain engineering and architecture talent. Work with your team
on impactful engineering work. Estimate the financial impact of
architectural solutions.
- Lead large, complex initiatives that deliver innovative/modern
products and experiences. Ability to translate business problems to
technology solutions. Responsible for shipping high quality
products on time.
- Architect and build highly reliable, secure, scalable, and
performant solutions.
- Experience in managing mission-critical cloud native production
workloads in AWS using modern serverless technologies. Create
effective partnerships with third party partners for service
transformation, product delivery and support.
- Provide leadership and collaboration regarding key technology
decisions. Actively pursue the reduction of technology debt where
possible and reduce operational risk.
- Champion user-focused design dedicated to the delivery of
exceptional user experience. Comprehensive understanding of
software development life cycle.
- Passionate about staying current on modern solutions and best
practices. Perform ongoing assessments of teams and programs to
support continuous improvement and innovation.
- Support off-hours production support and release activities to

Your skills and experience
- Brings contemporary knowledge in software engineering and
solutions architecture
- Experience engineering within the AWS services ecosystem is a
plus
- Recent experience with microservices, serverless, event driven
and distributed systems architecture
- A champion for continuous integration / continuous delivery
(CI/CD)
- Experience with data management, data structures and systems
design
- Able to balance long-term technology investments against
short-term business needs
- Strong communication, listening, and empathy skills as judged
by your teammates
- Demonstratable past technical accomplishments and continues to
be hands-on
- Organization skills, including the ability to track, build and
manage work backlogs in accordance with agile delivery
methodologies
- Problem solving mindset and solution-enabler; ability to
identify problems, make decisions and drive innovative
solutions
- Broad understanding and empathy for software engineer needs,
such as testing, release, and operational needs
- 2+ engineering management experience in high-growth engineering
organizations or equivalent experience
- 5-7+ years of engineering experience as an individual
contributor working as a backend / full stack developer
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred
- Startup experience, or fintech/insurtech experience a plus
