UW Medicine is hiring an Assistant Director to run our Eastside Specialty Center in Bellevue. The Eastside Specialty Center is the largest of our ambulatory clinics, with approximately double the visit volume of any other ambulatory site. The clinic consists of more than 16 different specialties, over 60 staff (clinical and non-clinical), over 70 providers, and has hospital-based, freestanding, and procedural areas. Our clinic specialties include:

  • General Surgery
  • Cardiology
  • Urology and Urogynecology
  • Allergy and ENT
  • Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Spine Care
  • Orthopedics
  • Sports Medicine
  • Endocrinology
  • Neurology
  • Hepatology
  • Dermatology
  • Freestanding and Hospital-Based Infusion
  • Endoscopy and GI
  • Radiology
  • Lab Services, including a Vascular Lab
  • Pharmacy
  • Audiology

    The Assistant Director will oversee all clinic operations, including staff management, facilities management, financial management, program management, and process improvement management. The Assistant Director will play a critical role overseeing the clinic's strategic goals, and ensuring these goals align with the wider UW Medical Center Pillar Goals for patient care.

    Operations and Management:
  • Direct the formulation of goals and policies.
  • Evaluate and implement change to foster innovations and improvements in operations.
  • Resolve all escalated related problems, including service and quality with internal and external clients.
  • Ensure the facility is in compliance with regulations and accrediting bodies.
  • Oversee process improvement quality measures with tracking, benchmarking, and metrics.
  • Interview, hire, orient, and train new employees.
  • Oversee employee performance, feedback, and expectations.
  • Implements disciplinary or remedial action measures for staff, as needed.

    Strategic Growth and Development:
  • In conjunction with the Associate Administrator, Assistant Administrator, and Medical Director, set goals for future strategic planning and program development.
  • Plan strategies to ensure that the clinic is able to meet future demands.

    Financial Planning and Oversight:
  • Oversee and consult with the Assistant Administrator and Medical Director on budget.
  • Prepare data for cost analyses and manage expenditure of funds.
  • Approve equipment and contract needs, and manage the selection of equipment and supplies.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing for equipment, supplies, standing orders, and service contracts.
  • Create monthly, quarterly, and annual financial report with justification and resolutions for any over budgeted areas, including FTEs, projects, contracts, and consumables.

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field
  • 4 years of progressive leadership experience

  • A nursing or clinical background
  • Experience in an academic medical center
