The IT Clinical Application team supports electronic medical record and 3rd party systems. This position will have strong Cerner Pharmacy clinical informatics experience, knowledge of customer service, and vendor relationship.Cerner Application knowledge and Pharmacy degree are required. This remote position is Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm remote position, with assigned on call rotation. Responsible for pharmacy formulary management within clinical information system. Develops or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity, capabilities, limitations, cost-effectiveness and desired results. Translates clinical, business, and user needs, regulatory and documentation requirements into system requirement specifications for use by technical staff. Guides and advises less experienced Clinical Systems Analysts. Applies the highest practical understanding of most phases of systems analysis and design as it applies to current and future system requirements. Performs activities pertaining to drug-drug interactions and appropriate dosage calculations and applies this knowledge into system design and operation.CORE FUNCTIONS1. Works with facility staff, technical staff and various committees to guide implementation and maintenance of clinical systems; responsible for pharmacy formulary management. Investigates, recommends and defines customization requirements including screen designs, specifications, reporting requirements, application dictionaries, parameters, and tables. Uses project planning tools and principals to define implementation tasks including equipment requirements, work flow review, conversion and planning.2. Determines end-user system requirements and provides written ROI analysis of proposed new systems and modifications to existing systems. This includes costs, benefits, issues, and policy concerns. Requires vendor interaction. May assist with RFP development.3. Assures that system documentation files for applications exist by utilizing sophisticated computer tools, vendor supplied utilities and applications.4. Assists with development and coordination of acceptance testing scenarios. Demonstrates understanding of the interrelationships of company systems.5. Supports educational and training requirements for end user staff by coordinating vendor training, scheduling and developing formalized current competency requirements.6. May be assigned to create data extracts and support ad hoc report requirements utilizing WEB development tools.7.This position is responsible for systems across multiple departments system-wide and requires interactions at all levels of staff and management. An understanding of the interrelationships of health care systems and user functions is required.Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. They will serve as role models for staff and act in a people-centered, service excellence-focused, and results-oriented manner.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust possess a degree in Pharmacy (advanced degree preferred) from an accredited College of Pharmacy.Requires pharmacy licensure in the state of practice.Skill level is typically achieved with five or more years of pharmacy experience, including system implementations in areas with multiple application systems. Responsible for pharmacy formulary management within a clinical information system. Must demonstrate knowledge of drug interactions and dosage calculations. Expert with PC-based productivity tools (e.g. spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail). Familiar with WEB and mainframe-based application development tools and other client server-based applications design.Requires effective human relations and verbal/written communication skills. Needs analytical ability to support decision making; organizational ability to manage multiple tasks and projects by established deadlines. The position may require travel between facilities in the area during the course of the workday.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPharmaceutical oncology experience is strongly preferred. Prior experience in a CPOE environment. Clinical informatics experience. Cerner experience.Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
