The Behavioral Health Specialist actively engages in Mary's Place racial equity work - striving for equitable outcomes and taking responsibility for creating, maintaining, and affirming communities for people of color, immigrants, and refugees, trans and gender-non-conforming people, and other populations who routinely encounter systemic oppressions.The Behavioral Health Specialist position will focus on meeting with guests for assistance with identifying and providing community resources and linkages of behavioral health and health concerns, provide behavioral health consultation and team support, assist with the agency resource guide, and develop and participate with community partnerships. The Behavioral Health Specialist at our Bellevue site is a temp full time position, 32 hours/week non-exempt position until June 27, 2023. Part-time work (under 29.5 hours) could be considered if desired. This position reports to the Behavioral Health Manager and does not supervise other staff. The hourly wage is $27-$30 per hour, depending on experience. This position will be based at the Bellevue Shelter. Key Responsibilities -- Meet with guests individually and/or family during office hours for assistance with identifying and providing community resources and linkages of behavioral health and health concerns.-- Assist with guests' referrals, linkages, and care management to community behavioral health, healthcare, and other entities. -- Develop partnerships with community-based agencies for referrals to supportive services.-- Maintain a mental health/behavioral health resource guide to be utilized by guests and staff. -- Assist general staff and Health Services clinical staff in obtaining accurate health metrics on guests and manage reporting to data management team.-- Monitor completion of health-related goals for shelter guests. -- Maintain appropriate records, documentation, and statistics.-- Assist with creation of on-going training program for staff around best practices in serving guests with complex behavioral health needs.-- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications -- College degree and two years in relevant work experience; experience in social or homeless services. -- Experience in Healthcare Work Case Management-- Knowledge and experience working with trauma informed and person-centered practices-- Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, possesses a positive attitude, and sense of humor-- Strong communication and documentation skills-- Exhibits compassion and empathy and works well with parents and children from all ethnic, social, economic, and sexual orientation and backgrounds-- Strong understanding of, and commitment to the Mary's Place mission of empowering homeless women, children, and families-- Attention to detail, interacting with others in-person and through email, using critical thinking skills to strategize, develop and implement business plans, create, and edit documents, listen, and participate verbally at meetings.Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.-- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear-- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, type, and reach with hands and arms; and requires the ability to occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry supplies up to 25 pounds-- Work takes place in a social services environment where long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, going up and down stairs, and standing are required-- Travel to program sites and meetings outside the office and around the county are necessary-- Ability to work in an environment where there may be animals present, including dogs In compliance with the ADA Amendment Act, should you have a disability that requires assistance and/or reasonable accommodation with the job application process, please contact the Human Resources department.Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
