Job Description:

Overview: This position assumes a key role leading our Human Resources (HR) Team Services group, overseeing core HR functions including regulatory compliance, employee relations, labor relations, benefits, leaves, and performance management. A dynamic leader who fosters, strengthens, and safeguards the Company's Mission and Guiding Principles. Works closely with the Vice President, Human Resources (VPHR) to positively shape programs, resources, and experience companywide. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct leadership, supervision, and development for HR Team Services group including guidance with all policies, procedures, and protocols for HR core competencies.
  • Leads the HR Team Services group in managing the day-to-day activities to support HR, forms/materials management, benefits, leaves, and other interrelated functions.
  • Manages the administration and maintenance of the Company's benefits programs and procedures.
  • Leads integrated disability management programs and services, including benefits plans, FMLA, WAPFML, ADA, Worker's Compensation, Paid Sick/Safe Leave, and more.
  • Oversees policies, processes, and procedures; ensures legal compliance; makes updates and additions as needed.
  • Relentless about gatekeeping to ensure the Company is compliant with policies, laws, and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs).
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of state, federal, and local employment laws and regulations; provides subject matter expertise and guidance on interpretation.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor for store leadership teams and team members.
  • Serves as a point of contact for employee relations issues. Partners with leaders to facilitate resolutions when needed. Consults and informs VPHR as appropriate.
  • Coaches leaders on performance management concerns; participates in discussions with team members as appropriate.
  • Conducts fact finding investigations as delegated by the VPHR, in accordance with employment laws and company best practices and requirements, as well as CBAs when applicable.
  • Provides assistance with grievances or arbitrations, as assigned by the VPHR.
  • Manages requested information to Employment Security Department (ESD)/Unemployment Insurance Management. Participates in hearings as needed.
  • Identifies opportunities for enhancement or improvement of processes/systems. Implements solutions as appropriate.
  • Works with the VPHR and HR Digital Innovation & Experience Team to maintain and innovate HR technology solutions and systems.
  • Actively participates in the progression of the Company; provides leadership in support of company initiatives and objectives.

  • Completes other projects/responsibilities as assigned by the VPHR. Successful Experience with Core Disciplines (include, but not limited to the following):

    • Total Rewards/Compensation/Benefits: FLSA, integrated disability management; benefits; HIPAA; FMLA; leave administration; PTO; Worker's Compensation; COBRA; pay practices Skills and Qualifications:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
      • SPHR or PHR and/or SHRM-SCP or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
      • Seven years or more experience in human resources, working in HR performing high-level generalist responsibilities. Proven knowledge of HR practices and policies. Experience with employee issues and complaints, includes investigation, documentation, and resolution. HR experience in unionized environment, including collective bargaining, a plus.
      • Minimum of five years experience in leadership roles within human resources management, including supervisory experience of a team of three or more.
      • Strong knowledge and thorough understanding of state, federal, and local employment laws.
      • Proven experience in building and maintaining human resources processes, programs, and tools.
      • Strong computer skills and experience with HRIS system(s).
      • Exceptional at diplomacy. Leads with both competence and humility.
      • Driven and resilient. Intellectually nimble; able to pivot on the spot and think creatively. Curious and solution-oriented thinker.
      • Strong leadership skills; proven success as a team leader and member; proven history of personnel development. Ability to effectively delegate and follow-through.
      • Proven ability to influence and partner with different levels of the organization to achieve results.
