About the role

You'll be joining an engineering team that is responsible for the care and feeding of an award-winning, high performing, reliable, secure, and scalable technology platform. This platform integrates best of the breed SaaS solutions in a cloud native environment complex architecture. We are looking for engineers who are passionate, team players and poised to make difference. You will understand the vision and work on strategy-execution to build the life insurance product on Serverless architecture.

This role is for Symetra's Swift program for life insurance - SwiftTerm or SwiftPerm.

What you'll do

  • Take ownership of a test automation framework, and drive it forward to further improve and optimize
  • Design, build, and document reliable test and debug tools for yourself, and other engineers
  • Collaborate with engineers to understand where test automation fits into the code under development
  • Identify, fix gaps in testing suite. To pursue the goal of over 90% automated testing.
  • You are a critical thinker, think about a big picture understand the edge case scenarios and ask the right questions.
  • Enable all engineers to run and develop test automation
  • Support the Engineering team by providing helpful and constructive feedback in code reviews
  • Test the entire stack from API to GUI, interact with partner, and hold them accountable for testing providing dataset
  • Generate or support a data generation system that will support manual test efforts
  • Ensure the data that logged and transferred is secure and follows PII/CPNI standards
  • Sign off on code as it moves through the environments
  • Participate in requirements definition, UX development, and customer support.
  • Bring a customer mindset, identify opportunities for improving application functionality and performance issues You will also perform some manual testing for test cases or edge scenarios.

      Salary Range: $115,800 - $192,700 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program target of 10%.

      You are proactive, thrive in a startup like environment with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility building customer focus product.

      Willing to take ownership of our testing efforts, as well as signing off on builds headed for production

      Your skills and experience
      • 5+ years of hands-on experience in testing automation, or relevant Software Engineering role
      • 3+ years of experience building test automation framework, creating test cases, working with product/engineering team
      • A successful track record of launching enterprise products
      • Comfortable with multiple test automation categories
        • API Testing
        • GUI Testing
        • End to End Testing
        • Performance Testing
        • Load Testing
        • Unit testing
        • Expert in at least one of the major test automation tools
          • Playwright (Preferred)
          • Selenium (Preferred)
          • Cypress
          • Experience with these tools
            • Jest
            • Axios
            • Postman
              • With little or no supervision, capable of analyzing, planning, designing and owning complex or vaguely defined issues
              • Collaborative attitude that incorporates various perspectives and puts customer before technology
              • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical peers
              • Experience in DevOps and Agile methodologies
              • If you are development background in lambda, serverless, SNS/SQS then it's a big plus
