Symetra has an excellent opportunity to join our team as a
Market Intelligence Director, in our Retirement Division!
About the role
Are you interested in being responsible for directing and
overseeing market and competitor intelligence initiatives for the
Retirement Division. You will be responsible for the development,
execution, and continual improvement of the market intelligence
In this role you will present market intelligence information to
Product and Sales management, and provide insights to be used in
new product development. This position leads the work of data
analysts supporting market intelligence functions.
Vision and Strategy: Establish a vision and ongoing strategy for
market intelligence programs, in alignment with Product, Sales, and
corporate strategic goals. Implement market intelligence strategy
by directing market intelligence initiatives to provide meaningful
data used in: product positioning, marketing and sales ideas,
product development, pricing, and industry research. Serve on
cross-functional project teams and collaborate with other internal
departments on initiatives that bring to bear competitive and/or
internal Symetra product data.
Data Gathering and Reporting: Direct and oversee gathering and
analysis of competitive intelligence, industry sales and
association/study group data, published surveys, and other sources
determined to be efficient and reliable. Direct the development and
dissemination of market intelligence summaries, reports,
communications, and analysis tools for use by internal management
and Sales staff. Direct and provide competitive information and
Symetra product positioning to internal and external wholesalers,
Sales Desk Managers, and Sales Management on specific inquiries
related to potential incoming business.
External Industry Participation & Vendor Management: Ensure
timely and ongoing participation in industry surveys and study
groups. Direct identification, negotiation with, and management of
vendors for services required to support market intelligence

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, business, or
equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.
5-10 years of financial services proven experience with a deep
understanding of retirement and annuity products.
Prior management experience in a competitive intelligence or
market research role preferred.
Solid understanding of retirement products, insurance industry
landscape, markets, distribution channels, and regulatory and
Ability to develop and implement business strategies,
communicate optimal with all levels of the organization, establish
relationships with key stakeholders, create employee consensus,
continually focus on capturing feedback and improving processes and
Ability to manage limited resources efficiently to accomplish
Excellent written and oral presentation skills .
