Symetra is hiring - ?Are you an Actuary I, wanting to make an impact? Look no further!Symetra's total Retirement Division Actuarial team is about 20 people. Our retirement division has grown to nearly $30B in assets and provides great opportunities for actuaries to work on a variety of annuity related activities and ground-breaking products.What you'll do Our retirement division actuarial team is responsible for pricing annuity products, risk management, valuation, financial planning, and reporting results for the retirement division. It is the key department for financial analysis for the division. In this role you will contribute to the financial reporting and planning functions for the department. You may be involved in the following projects:* Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, which includes the determination of reserves and DAC balances for Retirement products. You will work mainly with deferred annuities, in particular fixed indexed and registered indexed deferred annuities.* Code, implement, and test new products on the MG-ALFA or Polysystems valuation systems* Research and help guide Symetra's implementation of new industry regulations, such as VM-22 and GAAP LDTI* Determine more efficient methods of capturing data and improving processes for financial reporting. This will involve working with data and modernization specialists.* Meet with external and internal auditors to explain processes / controls and financial results* Update and review annual DAC unlocking results* Some flexibility is expected, and they may support projects involving other functions of RD Actuarial* This role may lead 1-3 more junior staff or interns* This is an exam supported role, and the candidate may continue to take exams in pursuit of the F.S.A. designation if they have not already achieved this designation.What we offer youWe don't take a "one-size-fits-all" approach when it comes to our employees. Facility in college level mathematics required.* Attainment of an ASA/ACAS and 4+ years of actuarial experience required* Advanced knowledge of actuarial statistics and assumptions used for modeling cost, risk and revenue trends.* Very familiar with internal and external statistical plans and sources of data.* Ability to build solutions to problems of a highly sophisticated nature, analyze issues in a multidimensional context and access and use data.* Highly skilled in PC utilization with data management software and spreadsheet applications* Shown ability to work independently* Dedicated to meeting the expectations of internal and external customersWe empower inclusionAt Symetra, we're building a place where every employee feels valued, respected, and has opportunities to contribute.
