Job Details
Understanding systems infrastructure demand is critical in enabling the growth of the Salesforce platform. Salesforce is looking to hire a Senior or Lead Capacity Planner to analyze customer usage and forecast demand across our global fleet of systems. This role will be part of a team of capacity planning professionals who have experience with understanding systems utilization and demand across the infrastructure stack (e.g. application, database, storage, networking, etc), statistics, and data modeling to analyze and forecast infrastructure demand.

This person would be required to work cross-functionally with a number of service teams to ensure their capacity needs are fully understood and planned for. As a result, the planner should expect to work collaboratively with service owners to understand service constraints (e.g. data locality, response times, networking, etc.) and coordinate the best plan for the deployment of systems and fulfillment demand over time. This planner will gather all available metrics, including machine and end-user demand, from the service owner to plot growth for that service, the resulting systems demand, and its impact on the Salesforce's global capacity supply.

Job Requirements:

Fundamental knowledge of systems infrastructure and how services interact with the underlying hardware.
Become an expert in what drives demand behind our systems. Be able to generate a multi-variate forecast incorporating organic growth as well as feature deployments and architecture changes.
Conduct "what-if" simulations - Proactively identify potential capacity issues and partner with product and service owners to minimize risk and reduce cost-to-serve.
Present clear findings and recommendations to senior leadership regarding the appropriate capacity plan to support the service.

Required Skills/Experience:

Experience in capacity management, planning, forecasting and scheduling is a plus.
Deep analytical skills enabling comprehension and development of complex technical issues, topics and plans. Interpret data from multiple sources and determine the impact on infrastructure capacity.
Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from tracking machine growth and user growth metrics. Creative problem solving bringing strategic business insights from a deep analysis of the data.
Strong interpersonal and executive presentation skills needed to convey capacity recommendations.
Recommend a plan to optimize systems investment, allocation and deployment.
Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results.
Establish a 12-18 month capacity plan and coordinate the execution of this plan with the delivery team.
BA/BS degree in Business, Operations, or related discipline or equivalent degree or equivalent work experience. BA/BS Degree in Computer Science is preferred.

Desired Skills:

Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
Experience working with Salesforce and reporting.
Experience working with SQL, SOQL, Python and Tableau.
