Position Summary
This is a part-time position in the Theatre Arts: Drama & Dance
department within the Arts and Humanities Division. This position
is specifically to teach Stage Lighting, a four credit,
quarter-long, on-ground course, and Drama 290, a concurrent,
one-credit on ground course that includes work on the theatre
production. The instructor will teach, develop curriculum and
learning experiences, and develop strategies to help students
succeed and meet learning outcomes using technology as best fits
the needs of the students.
Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule
Part-time faculty is typically assigned as needed on a quarterly
basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the
current appointment. Compensation for the part-time faculty member
teaching one 5-credit class is $4,852.23/quarter.

personal leave plan; transit program, reduced tuition, employee
discounts and memberships, etc. Eligible employees are faculty who
work a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other
Washington State public institutions of higher education for two
consecutive quarters are eligible for health and dental insurance
at the start of the second consecutive quarter.
Part-time faculty with 50% or more load is represented by the
Bellevue College Association of Higher Education (BCAHE) union.

About the Department
The Theatre Arts Department of Drama and Dance expands and enriches
the learning, life and culture of all students and faculty of
Bellevue College by introducing audiences to a variety of current,
historical and cultural perspectives, providing students
opportunities to experience performance through a breadth of
program offerings in the art and craft of acting, design, and
dance, and advancing students' learning goals through exploration
of dramatic literature and advancement toward degree attainment in
pre-major courses or training in advanced in acting, dance, musical
theatre, playwriting, and directing.
Essential Functions
--- Perform student-centered teaching for Stage Lighting

multi-ability student population

differences and pluralism are valued, and all students have
opportunities to be successful learners
--- Maintain excellence, current knowledge, and skills in technical
theatre and in cultural versatility
--- Perform related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
--- A degree from a two year or four-year academic program
--- Demonstrated expertise in lighting design or as a lighting
technician in professional, semi-professional, community, or
academic theatre
--- Experience teaching lighting at the high school or
college/university level
--- Knowledge of theatre tools and equipment, tool and equipment
maintenance and replacement; ensuring safety in all technical
activities
--- Experience working collaboratively with diverse colleagues in a
collaborative and inclusive environment
--- Effective communication skills
