Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join our team as an Associate Underwriter!

About the role
As an Associate Underwriter, you will underwrite new business accounts for Life, AD&D, Short Term Disability (STD), Family Medical Leave (FML) and Long-Term Disability (LTD), typically between 100 and 500 lives with emphasis between 100 and 250 lives (-or- Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity & Gap Assist products, typically over 50 lives with emphasis between 100 and 1,500 eligible lives).

What you will do

• 
  
• Review Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions including verifying integrity of census data and plan information and requesting additional information as needed
  
• Develop & analyze manual ratings and if applicable, historic premium/claims information via a credibility formula to develop and communicate new business rate recommendations in accordance with pricing targets and level of authority. Sales expectations of $1.5 MM per year
  
• Underwrite large market in force customer accounts (Life coverage for accounts over 500 lives, generally up to 1,000 lives; Supplemental Health generally up to 5,000 eligible lives)
  
• Process sold accounts and renewals following established procedures while managing a book of business
  
• Build and maintain positive relationships with Symetra sales, field and home office service and actuarial teams
  
• Participate in projects and training initiatives as assigned
  
• Maintain accurate and up to date reporting of assigned presales and renewals

    Compensation
    Salary Range: $45,500 - $75,800 plus eligibility for annual bonus program
