Join a full-stack team that takes full ownership not only of developing robust models, but owning the pipeline and managing the technology stack that allows eBay to scale our inference engine at web-scale. We collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and product teams to develop improvements to our shipping and trust platforms that drive efficiency and user experience for buyers and sellers. While our close work with product and engineering drives our results-oriented culture, learning and experimentation are keys to ensuring we develop the best solutions possible.Team Role:As a part of the broader Shipping and Member Communications organization at eBay, this role will help develop content moderation models to improve the safety and quality of communications for our sellers and buyers. We are looking for stellar applied researchers to join us and build the next generation of member communication models. If you enjoy the scale and technical complexity of identifying message and entity intent (driven by categorization, the definitions and application of knowledge graph and GNNs, to name a few) and want to be at the frontier of applied research in e-commerce, join now.Job Responsibilities

• Seek scientifically valid solutions that deliver real value to eBay customers
• Build machine learning models and data pipelines to deliver insightful yet practical solutions across web-scale data
• Work with multiple teams to help promote standard scientific methodologies and processes in your field
• Present key technical and novel research work in public forums and conferencesBasic Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative discipline
  • 5-8 years (with PhD) or 8-12 years (with MS) of related work experience
  • Industrial experience with one or more of the following: classification, regression, NLP, GBM, recommendation systems, clustering, fraud detection, Deep-Learning/Neural Networks, GNN
  • Experience in big data processing, e.g. Hadoop, SQL, Spark
  • Experience with Python, Java or Scala, and PyTorch

The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
