For more information, visit.The Role:The Director of Technical Sales is a technical sales role that is part of the Business Development team. This role will be responsible for ensuring customer technical needs are understood and properly addressed throughout the business capture efforts. This role will also be responsible for taking market data to create technical strategies that address future market requirements. This role will primarily focus on the US Government market but may also support international civil and commercial markets. Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading business development technical solutions for growth opportunities in both commercial and defense markets
  • Capture technical market requirements and translate complex mission needs into technical requirements for engineering team.
  • Collaborate with engineering team to align capability roadmap with business offerings.
  • Support business development managers on customer development, capture management, and proposal efforts.
  • Candidates will be responsible for all elements of the sales process from early opportunity identification, lead development, market strategy, initial customer engagement, acquisition and contract closure.
  • Domestic and international travel to interface with the customer, attend meetings and tradeshows is required (approximately 40%).
  • Position is located in Seattle but will consider other locations.Qualifications:
    • 5+ years related work experience in aerospace and rocket launch services
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5+ years of professional experience.
    • Demonstrated track record in driving growth and delivering innovative technical solutions
    • Work with internal stakeholders to capture and communicate customer requirements for on-going product improvement
    • Proven experience within the smallsat satellite and/orlaunch industry.
    • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.       • Strong communication and technical presentation skills
      • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
      • Hands on experience in managing bid and proposal efforts
      • Strong analytical skills on both business and technical issues
      • A strong understanding of the small satellite launch industry, available launch vehicles, their capacity and performance is critical.
      • Engineering/technical background, highly preferred.
      • Ability to perform spacecraft/satellite and launch market assessments including gathering and processing competitive intelligence data;
      • Experience selling technical products in the satellite or related industry;
      • Demonstrated experience locating and proposing potential business deals, writing technical proposals, responding to commercial and/or government solicitation;
      • Demonstrated experience reviewing and negotiating contracts and subcontracts;
      • Demonstrated experience proactively engaging customers to draw out their needs and translating them into executable business and operational requirements, for the sake of clarity, candidates should be able to figure out what someone needs even if they can't describe it themselves and present their customer with creative solutions.
      • Ability to develop technical sales/marketing material including brochures, datasheets, white papers, and customer briefings, deliver in a timely manner.
